What it adds

A second Kratos

On controller 2, with his own health and magic bars.

Shared progress

One pool of orbs, upgrades, weapons and magic. Pickups heal both of you.

Downed, not dead

Hold Circle beside your partner to bring them back. You have 20 seconds.

Bosses for two

Either player can stun a boss, and either can grab it for the finishing sequence.

Travel together

Doors, levers and level changes take both players along. Player 2 can jump to player 1 with Select.

One camera

Frames both players, with a marker at the screen edge when one is out of view.

What you need

Windows 10 or 11	Mac and Linux are not supported yet.
PCSX2 2.0 or newer	Installed and already working with a PS2 BIOS.
God of War disc image	Your own copy of the US release, serial SCUS-97399, as a plain `.iso`. The installer checks it.
Python 3	The installer offers to install it if it is missing.
Two controllers	Any gamepads PCSX2 can map.

The mod contains no game files, no BIOS and no emulator. It builds its patch on your PC from your own disc image.

Install

Download the latest zip from the Releases page and unzip it somewhere it can stay.
Close PCSX2, then double-click Install.bat. Point it at pcsx2-qt.exe and at your disc image.
In PCSX2, map the second controller: Settings → Controllers → Controller Port 2.
Start with Play God of War Co-op (or the desktop shortcut) and load your save from the memory card.

Known issues

Early release. Most testing so far was in the opening level and the Ares fight. Later levels have not been played through in co-op yet, so expect rough spots, and save often.

Enemies keep moving for a moment in some pause situations.
While you save or the game swaps weapons, player 2 vanishes for a few seconds and comes back (on purpose: it avoids a crash).
Player 2's bars move down for boss health bars, but may still overlap them slightly with some bosses.
Button prompts, doors and boss grabs belong to whoever pressed an action button last. If a prompt does not show, press an attack button first.
Save states made before installing or with an older version do not work properly. Load from the memory card.
Local only: one PC, one screen. Menus and saving are player 1's. Bonus costumes for player 2 do not work.
Only the US disc SCUS-97399, as a plain .iso. Windows only. Other PINE tools cannot run alongside the mod.
